Giants Vs. Cubs 6/3/2021

The Cubs entered this game riding the momentum of a sweep over the Padres. The Cubs were also coming off of 6 straight series wins. The Giants entered this game coming off of a disappointing loss to the Angels that snapped a 4 game win streak. The Giants had an off day before this game so they would be well rested while the Cubs had played 9 days in a row. This 4 game series would happen at Oracle Park so the Giants would be the home team. Lou Gehrig day was the day before this game but since the Giants didn’t play then they would celebrate Lou Gehrig day today. The Giants lineup for this game had LaMonte Wade Jr. (1B) hitting leadoff, Buster Posey (C) hitting 2nd, Alex Dickerson (LF) hitting 3rd, Wilmer Flores (3B) hitting cleanup, Brandon Crawford (SS) hitting 5th, Donovan Solano (2B) hitting 6th, Steven Duggar (CF) hitting 7th, Mike Tauchman (RF) hitting 8th, and Anthony DeSclafani (P) hitting 9th. The Cubs lineup had Joc Pederson (LF) hitting leadoff, Kris Bryant (RF) hitting 2nd, Javier Báez (SS) hitting 3rd, Anthony Rizzo (1B) hitting cleanup, Wilson Contreras (C) hitting 5th, Ian Happ (CF) hitting 6th, Sergio Alcantára (3B) hitting 7th, Eric Sogard (2B) hitting 8th, and Zach Davies (P) hitting last. The pitching matchup in this game was Anthony DeSclafani who was 4-2 with an ERA of 3.56 versus Zach Davies who was 2-2 with an ERA of 4.65. Davies was coming off of a great May and DeSclafani had been consistently great throughout the season so this was shaping up to be a great pitching duel. For the Cubs to win they needed to hit well with runners on, get DeSclafani out early, and find a nice start out of Davies. For the Giants to win they needed to get runners on base so that home runs are more meaningful, get Davies out early, and find a nice start out of DeSclafani. Would the Giants bounce back from their loss to the Angels with a win or would the Cubs get their 4th straight win? To the game!
