The Rockies entered this game down 2-0 in the series and the Giants entered this game with a series win in the bag and a sweep opportunity. The Giants would try to get the win with Tommy La Stella (2B) hitting leadoff, Mike Yastrzemski (RF) hitting 2nd, Alex Dickerson (LF) hitting 3rd, Brandon Belt (1B) hitting cleanup, Evan Longoria (3B) hitting 5th, Brandon Crawford (SS) hitting 6th, Curt Casali (C) hitting 7th, LaMonte Wade Jr. (CF) hitting 8th, and Anthony DeSclafani hitting 9th. The Rockies starting lineup had Garrett Hampson (2B) hitting leadoff, Raimel Tapia (LF) hitting 2nd, Trevor Story (SS) hitting 3rd, Charlie Blackmon (RF) hitting cleanup, Ryan McMahon (3B) hitting 5th, Josh Fuentes (1B) hitting 6th, Sam Hilliard (CF) hitting 7th, Dom Nuñez (C) hitting 8th, and Germán Márquez hitting last. This would be a pitching matchup between 2 great pitchers in Anthony DeSclafani and Germán Márquez. For the Rockies to win they needed to execute with runners on, take an early lead, and find a nice start out of Germán Márquez. For the Giants to win they needed to get Germán Márquez out early, find a nice start out of Anthony DeSclafani, and find a nice performance out of the Giants bullpen. Would the Giants get the sweep or would the Rockies steal a win? To the game!

Very happy to read about this game. I’m not getting the Giants games currently in Boston but hope to correct the situation soon. I rely on these recaps and really appreciate them especially when the Giants win.
