Giants Vs. Padres 4/6/2021

The Padres were coming off of a rough loss to the Giants entering this game. The Giants were coming off of a nice win over the Padres. If the Giants won this game they would jump the Padres in the standings. The Giants lineup in this game would be Mike Yastrzemski (RF) hitting leadoff, Alex Dickerson (LF) up next, Wilmer Flores (2B) hitting 3rd, Brandon Belt (1B) hitting cleanup, Evan Longoria (3B) hitting 5th, Buster Posey (C) hitting 6th, Brandon Crawford (SS) hitting 7th, Austin Slater (CF) hitting 8th, and finally Giants starting pitcher Aaron Sanchez hitting 9th. This would be Aaron Sanchez’s first game as a Giant and Yu Darvish’s 2nd game with the Padres. Both pitchers hoped to pitch well and get their team the win. For the Padres to win they needed to limit homers from the Giants, exploit the Giants bullpen, and find a nice start out of Yu Darvish. Leo’s Exrta Inning: This was a disappointing loss for the Giants with little offensive production. This was a great game for the Padres though and a great way to bounce back from their loss the day before led by Victor Caratini who went 1 for 3 with a run scored and 2 RBI. Eric Hosmer was also a contributor going 1 for 4 with an RBI. Ha-Seong Kim also played well going 1 for 2 with a run scored and a walk. Brandon Crawford led the Giants in this game going 1 for 3 with a solo homer. Austin Slater and Buster Posey had the other 2 hits for the Giants in this game each going 1 for 3. Yu Darvish had a great start for the Padres with 6 innings pitched, 3 hits given up, 1 earned run given up, 1 walk given up, and a homer given up. Darvish also had 7 strikeouts and got a no decision. The Padres bullpen pitched well too with 3 pitchers pitching an innings each, a total of 0 hits, runs, or walks given up, and 4 strikeouts recorded. Keone Kela got the win in this game, Emilio Pagán got the hold, and Mark Melancon got the save. The starting pitcher for the Giants Aaron Sanchez pitched a great game as well with 5 innings pitched. In those 5 innings Sanchez gave up 6 hits, 1 earned run, and 0 walks. Sanchez also got 4 strikeouts and a no decision. The Giants bullpen also pitched pretty well with 4 pitchers pitching 3 innings and giving up 2 hits, 2 earned runs, 1 walk, and 1 homer. The bullpen also had 1 strikeout from Jarlin García. Matt Wisler was the one who gave up the runs and got the loss. Overall, this was a pitching duel where the Padres barely got away with a win.
