Warriors Vs. Kings 3/25/2021

The Kings entered this game after winning 4 of their last 5 games. The Warriors entered this game riding a 2 game losing streak. Both teams made trades at the trade deadline but let’s start with the Kings who traded away Nemanja Bejelica, traded Cory Joseph for Delon Wright, got Mfiondu Kabengele, and got Terence Davis. The Warriors ended up trading away Marquese Chriss for Cody Lalanne and traded away Brad Wanamaker to the Hornets for money. Delon Wright nor Terence Davis would play for the Kings in this game because they had not arrived in Sacramento yet. Speaking of players who wouldn’t play in this game, both Stephen Curry and Draymond Green would not play in this game which meant that this would be a very difficult game for the Warriors to win. Both Hassan Whiteside and Marvin Bagley lll would be out in this game for the Kings. These 2 teams played earlier in the season and the Warriors won that game 137-106. For the Kings to get revenge in this game with a win they needed to force turnovers, rebound well, and play good defense. For the Warriors to win they needed to rebound well, assists well without Draymond Green, and shoot amazingly. Would the Warriors be able to get the shorthanded win or would the Kings avenge their loss from earlier in the season? To the game!

Leo’s Courtside Commentary: The Warriors didn’t play as badly as the score makes it look considering that they were missing their 2 most important players in Draymond Green and Stephen Curry. The fact that De’Aaron Fox had a stat line of a career high 44 points, 2 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 steals also negatively contributed to the Warriors’ loss. Richaun Holmes played very well for the Kings too with 25 points, 11 rebounds, an assist, and 2 blocks. Tyrese Haliburton also played well with 21 points and an assist. Andrew Wiggins led the Warriors with 26 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists. Kelly Oubre Jr. and Nico Mannion also played well with a combined 38 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. The Warriors ended up with 4 fewer assists, 2 fewer steals, 4 fewer blocks, 6 more turnovers, and 6 more fouls than the Kings. The Warriors and Kings each ended up with 38 rebounds. The Warriors shot very well in this game with 51.1% from the field, 53.1% from behind the arch, and a whopping 100% on free throws. The Kings shot a bit better with 59.6% from the field, 50% from 3, and 84.2% from the free throw line. Overall, this was a game where the Warriors were very shorthanded and the Kings’ star player had his career high in points which led to a Warriors’ loss.
